Trump just wrapped up his first 100 days in the White House and everyone seems to be shifting from Donald and jumping straight to the topic of the First Lady.
For months, people have been questioning Melania's devotion to her husband's new position with rumors that she is "miserable". But, all of those ridiculous headlines have faded in recent weeks as Melania has upped her Washington appearances, most notable was her Easter celebration and visit with Argentina First Lady Juliana Awada.
Melania stepped out to greet President Macri and his wife Juliana in a military-style green jacket with a matching skirt. The bold style choice came from the Altuzarra Spring 2017 collection designed by 'Feday.' The olive green look was a major leap for Melania who has favored mostly reds, whites, and blues.
The First Lady walked the grounds with Juilana and met on the signature couches in the Oval Office for some photos ops. Awada sat across from Melania wearing a bright red dress, which looks like something Melania would typically wear. She also wore Aquazzura shoes that made fashion reporters gasp. Currently, Melania's daughter-in-law Ivanka is in a legal battle with Aquazzura over her shoe line. Fortunately, Ivanka has removed herself from her fashion company to avoid any conflicts of interest while her and her family work in Washington.
So why are Melania Trump's outfits such a big deal? Some people may just consider them clothes but everything the White House does and chooses to show off to the world serves a purpose. Often, women in Melania’s position will meet with foreign leaders wearing an outfit with a specific color or design that reflects the culture of the guest. For example, Melania also wore green when Queen Rania of Jordan visited which reflected the Jordanian flag and an important hue for the Prophet Muhammad.
The President has met with numerous foreign leaders since entering office nearly 100 days ago. After their working lunch, Trump told reporters that he and the Argentinian government will be "great friends, better than ever before." Trump has prided himself on his ability to quickly bond with world leaders in 2017, especially Chinese President Xi Jinping who will serve as an important sounding board throughout the North Korea situation.
