Who knew a pair of shoes could cause such a ruckus! The First Lady's stilettos are being criticized by feminists who claim that the Melania shouldn't 'normalize' uncomfortable style choices.
Newsweek writer Nina Burleigh spoke with Vogue Editor Andre Leon Talley about Melania and Ivanka's footwear to dissect the "beautiful and horrifying" truths about wearing stilettos.

"The vertiginous spike-heel shoe is not currently in fashion, but for Ivana, Ivanka, Melania and the Trump daughters-in-law, Carrie Bradshaw’s shoe of choice never went out of style. In fact, the female consorts of the Leader of the Free World do not set foot in public without first molding their arches into the supernatural curve that Mattel toy designers once devised for Barbie’s plastic feet."
Needless to say, the article did NOT favor the fashion choices of the Trump ladies. But, can Newsweek really argue that the high-heel is out of fashion? Breitbart countered the anti-heel comments by pointing out that the heel is actually still in fashion. In fact, they noted that the 2017 Vogue Spring collection basically made heels mandatory.
Like jeans or baseball caps, high-heels seem to always be a favorite choice for women attending a fancy function. It just so happens that the Trump girls are always attending formal events where they want to look their best. They're not asking for all women to wear heels to work every day!
The Newsweek article went on to quote American anthropologist and author Helen Fisher who said:
“High heels thrust out the buttocks and arch the back into a natural mammalian courting—actually, copulatory—pose called ‘lordosis.’ Rats do it, sheep do it…lions do it, dogs do it. It is a naturally sexy posture that men immediately see as sexual readiness. [Heels] are a ‘come-hither’ signal.”
There's no denying that heels are uncomfortable. And, yes, history shows that they're associated with a certain sexiness. Nonetheless, millions of powerful and independent women sport heels because they like them and they like the confidence that they give them! If Melania isn't complaining, then why should she be ridiculed for enjoying the style?
