Trump PROUDLY Skips Out On Correspondents Dinner: 'I Am NOT A Hypocrite'

It's tradition for the President to attend the White House Correspondents dinner to endure a night of roasting from media types and celebrities. But, this year Donald Trump has declined the invitation to send a message to the press.

Donald is the first President to miss the dinner since Ronald Reagan back in 1981. The event is set to take place in the Spring and is set to act as a fundraiser for journalism scholarships.

The liberal press is digging into the President for his decision. Trump has gone on the record explaining that he "thought it would be inappropriate" to attend the event. Given the troubling relationship between Donald and the fake news networks it makes complete sense for the President to avoid the headlines. Why would he sit in a chair and subject himself to a night of roasting. He is the President of the United States, surely he has better things to do than take hits from CNN.

Donald defended that he has been mistreated by the press. However, he still remained quite classy during an interview with Steve Doocy by saying " “I have great respect for the press. I have great respect for reporters and the profession. I just thought it would be better if I didn’t do it.”

Fortunately, conservative networks and shows like "Fox and Friends" have stuck by his side during the ordeal. Donald complimented the program saying his is a "friend" of the show and thanked the hosts for treating him unfairly.

Trump's aide Sarah Sanders made a statement reinforcing what he plans to do on the night of the dinner.

“This wasn’t a president that was elected to spend his time with reporters and celebrities, this is a president who campaigned on speaking directly to Americans, and that’s what he’s going to spend his time doing.”
